Skills of Torah Study #1: Extraneous Words

When we learn Torah, we need to be sensitive to the extraneous words that are written. How do we identify extraneous words? What are the right questions to ask when we encounter an extraneous word in the Torah, specifically the Chumash? 

Learn to read the Torah's words with careful sensitivity, and what lessons we can learn from identifying words that seem to be "unnecessary" or extraneous. The Torah never wastes words, and every letter is written by God and accounted for, therefore when we encounter a word that is out of place or possibly repetitive, it is the Torah's way of teaching us an extra lesson.
